Is punk coming back?!

Not quite but, Sum 41 is back with new music on the way. They will be releasing their 7th full length album, Order In Decline, on July 19, 2019. This is Sum 41‘s first album since 13 Voices released in 2016.

They just released the video for the first single off the album, “Out For Blood”. Sum 41 is going for a much heavier sound with this album. It is different than what their fans may be used to but, in a good way. Sum 41 said that Order In Decline is “undoubtedly Sum 41’s heaviest and most aggressive album to date, while also being their most dynamic and raw.”

Their lead singer Deryck Whibley implied that Order In Decline, while not being a political record, would still have lyrics that would echo the social and political issues of today. “The last thing I wanted to do was write a social or political protest record, and Order In Decline is not that. It’s also very hard not to have feelings about everything that’s going on in the world,” he said.

While “Out For Blood” took me by surprise a little bit, I like the direction Sum 41 is heading in with Order In Decline. Honestly, I was expecting something that sounded more like “Fatlip” from 2009 but I was pleasantly surprised.

Sum 41 is currently on a US tour promoting Order In Decline so make sure you pick up tickets if you can. They will also be playing at multiple festivals this summer including the Warped Tour at Mountain View, CA on July 21, Rockstar Energy Drink Disrupt touring at Sacramento, CA on Oct. 11 and many more!
